What is the board about?

Youth Advisory Board

Our Youth Advisory Board (also known as YAB) gives young people the chance to be at the heart of decision making in GamCare. The YAB ensures our work is relevant and meets the needs of young people throughout the UK.

Below are ways you can get involved and even achieve your DofE Award.

YAB Code of Conduct

Click below to view our YAB’s Code of Conduct developed by the Youth Advisors themselves.

Who can take part?

Any young person aged 11-17 interested can join.

We welcome young people from all communities, backgrounds and beliefs, especially those that feel unheard within society.

Whether you gamble yourself, experiencing gambling related harm, affected by someone else’s gambling or have never gambled at all, you are invited to take part.

Achievement Roadmap

All the Youth Advisory Board achievements

We meet at 6.30pm every Monday and Thursday on Zoom. You only need to attend one session per week.

The only requirement we have is that you are aged 11-17 years old and want to improve our services for young people.

Of course, you can participate in the YAB for as long as you want to.

Anyone aged 11-17 years old can take part in the YAB, not only those completing their DofE Award.

Your contribution will make a difference in how we reach young people in an engaging way to ensure they understand the risks of gambling and know where to get support if they ever need it. Our Annual Report video above and achievement list below shows how that was achieved last year.

Yes, after completing at least 3 months with the YAB we can provide a reference.

“The YAB is a safe environment where young people have discussions about gambling- related harm, such as, how we can actively prevent and support young people affected.

I am proud to be part of the YAB as our sessions revolve around making changes and improving society, hence why I continue to attend the weekly sessions and would like the YAB to become even bigger, so that we can have a greater influence on others.”
