Join our Young Adults Focus Group, a pilot project consisting of 18-25-year-olds dedicated to improving gambling harm service delivery and digital services for young adults across the UK.

Are you passionate about helping others? Do you have personal experience with gambling, or know someone who does? Do you want to make a real difference in the lives of young adults?

At GamCare, we believe that young adult’s voices are essential in shaping our services and supporting those affected by gambling harms. Our Young Adults Focus Group is a pilot project consisting of a group of 18-25 year old’s who lead us in the development and co-creation service delivery improvement and design as well as enhancing our digital services with the aim of improving our support offer for young adults throughout the UK.

Who can take part?

Any young adult aged between 18-25 interested can join.

We welcome young adults from all communities, backgrounds and beliefs, especially those that feel unheard within society.

Whether you gamble yourself, experiencing gambling related harm, impacted by someone else’s gambling or have never gambled at all, you are invited to take part.

Only those living in the UK can participate. We will require proof of this for successful applicants.

How to get involved

  • Complete our simple online application form by November 30th 2024.
  • Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an informal chat within two weeks of the deadline.

Priorities for Focus Group

  • Engagement Strategy Development: Review and improve our communication strategies to connect more effectively with service users during all stages of their journey with us.
  • Digital Support Services Development and Improvements: Enhance the features and functions of our digital support services to ensure they are effective and engaging for young adults.

FAQS

The Focus Group will meet every 2 weeks for 2 hours between December and March. Dates and times of sessions will be determined by the group of successful applicants however will be during the office hours of Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm.  If the pilot is successful it will be extended beyond these dates.

The  requirements we have is that you are aged 18-25 years old, based in the UK, want to improve our services for young adults and can commit to all the sessions between October and January. There will be an application and selection process as the group will consist of 10-12 members.

Your contribution will make a difference in how we reach young adults in an engaging way to ensure they understand the risks of gambling and know where to get support if they ever need it. Furthermore you will help design and improve new/current programmes and services.

Yes, active participants will receive £30 per session via vouchers as remuneration for their time.

Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate those living outside of the UK participating in this focus group. The reasons are varied but based within safeguarding, GDPR, etc. We will require proof of residency from successful candidates.
